Today, our nation will pause to honor fallen police officers. ASPR is providing public health and medical support at the National Peace Officers Memorial. Teams from the National Disaster Medical System are working behind-the-scenes to provide medical support to those working and attending the event.

We are proud to stand alongside the families and communities commemorating those officers who gave their lives in service, and we reaffirm our commitment to public service and the safety of our communities.

Breaking new ground! Today, we joined Manus’s groundbreaking event for a new facility that will bring state-of-the-art production of key starting materials (KSMs) for an influenza antiviral and a malaria treatments to Augusta, GA.

In the past, America has relied on China and Vietnam for these KSMs. With this new onshoring initiative, Manus will use its innovative biomanufacturing capabilities to ensure a reliable supply of these critical products.

This investment is part of ASPR/IBMSC’s DPA Title III Essential Medicines portfolio, which makes targeted investments aimed at reshoring pharmaceutical manufacturing for high-demand essential medicines that rely on fragile supply chains and/or foreign suppliers.

During National Nurses Week, ASPR thanks all the nurses serving in the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) who use your compassion, skills, and commitment to ensure patients receive outstanding care when disaster strikes.

“For over 37 years of NDMS response, the care NDMS nurses have provided to thousands of people has been extraordinary. From something as simple as a bandage to complex, life-saving interventions, their impact has been profound,” said Helga-Scharf-Bell, ASPR National Disaster Medical System Director. “Every interaction reflected professionalism, compassion, and the reassuring presence brought—often with nothing more than a listening ear and a comforting smile.”

Nurses, thank you for the vital role you play in protecting the health and safety of communities across the country when disasters strike.
