A huge thank you to Renee Clark, the Social Justice Club, and the entire Holy Trinity School community for an incredible summer resource drive in support of Georgetown Ministry Center.
Thanks to your generosity, GMC received 654 bottles of Gatorade, 76 cans of bug spray, 69 bottles of sunscreen, and 186 athletic t-shirts. Summer is an especially challenging time for our unhoused neighbors as they navigate extreme heat, humidity, and prolonged exposure to the elements. These supplies will go a long way in helping our guests stay hydrated, protected from the sun, and free from mosquito bites.
We are especially grateful for the quality and variety of the donated items. Being able to offer guests different Gatorade flavors, sunscreen with varying SPF levels, and athletic shirts in different colors and materials is a luxury we often take for granted. These choices help preserve dignity and allow guests to select items that best meet their individual needs and preferences.
Thank you for turning compassion into action and for standing alongside our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Your support is making a meaningful difference this summer.

Before the rainy Memorial Day weekend, GMC kicked off summer with a community cookout at our Georgetown Lutheran Church Drop-In Center in collaboration with Georgetown University’s Provost Office. Around 15 volunteers joined GMC staff to grill hot dogs and burgers, served alongside delicious sides, sodas, and desserts. Guests enjoyed corn hole, a lively playlist, and a joyful afternoon that brought everyone together to connect and enjoy each other’s company.

On Friday, GMC staff, guests, and our Junior Program Director, Baby L, took a field trip to the National Zoo to meet the new baby elephant 🐘
Our community soaked up the spring weather and spent meaningful time together outside the Drop-In Centers.

Yesterday, GMC’s Outreach and Advocacy Manager, Taylor Bush, testified before the DC Council Committee on Human Services during budget oversight hearings. Taylor spoke on behalf of our guests, advocating for stronger city funding and housing resources.
GMC’s advocacy efforts are rooted in ensuring that our guests’ voices, needs, and perspectives are represented in every room where decisions are made. As an entirely privately funded organization, our sole priority is advocating for our guests.

On Friday, GMC said farewell to our beloved longtime volunteer and Spirit of Georgetown 2025 honoree, Sue Massimiano.
For over two years, Sue showed up week after week at our Drop-In Center as a steady, loving presence for both guests and staff. Her kindness, consistency, and care have left a lasting mark on our community.
We will miss you dearly, Sue, but cannot wait to hear about your next adventure. We love you 🤍
