Registration is now available! Superior Court will host a virtual Safe Surrender program for four days this July. Safe Surrender is an opportunity for persons who are wanted for misdemeanor bench warrants in DC to surrender voluntarily online. Great news! DC Safe Surrender is coming back! It will take place this July (9, 10, 16 and 17th) and is going to be remote (participation will be by computer, laptop, or smartphone (if the phone can do videochats, such as Facetime).)
All those with misdemeanor bench warrants are eligible to participate. Prosecutors have said that they will hgive credit to tose coming forward on their own, through this type of event. It's best to register in advance and get a definite hearing time.

Anyone wishing to turn himself or herself in on an outstanding bench warrant may come to the Moultrie Courthouse (500 Indiana Avenue, NW - Judiciary Square or Archives metro stops) and go to room 4000 and turn him/herself in. If you want to consult an attorney first, call the DC Public Defender Service at 202/628-1200.

As WDCW's Cameron Thompson reported, DC Safe Surrender 2016 was a big success - our thanks to all the agencies that participated, the dozens of staff from DC Superior Court's criminal division, as well as CJCC, PSA, CSOSA, USMS, PDS, USAO-DC, OAG and the DC Parole Commission!
Over 300 turn themselves in for “DC Safe Surrender”
Over 300 people with outstanding warrants for non-violent crimes voluntarily turned themselves over three weekends as part of the “DC Safe Surrender” program.

Just one more Safe Surrender Saturday left - this Saturday, 9/24, from 9am to 4pm. Anyone with a bench warrant should come to the Moultrie Courthouse (500 Indiana Ave, NW) and get it resolved. Over 98% of those who have done so so far have walked out the same day! If you go to www.dccourts.gov/safesurrender you can check and see if you have a bench warrant and listen to 2007 Safe Surrender participant Willie Jones tell you about how well it worked for him!
