Today is our last day at the National Indian Nations Conference in Palm Springs. The NamUs Tribal Liaison has spent this week meeting with Tribal Leaders, victim advocates, law enforcement personnel, and community members to discuss how NamUs can best support American Indian and Alaska Native cases! Last week, we were in Las Vegas, NV, for the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners Training Symposium. Did you know that there are 351 unclaimed persons in our database in just the state of Nevada? We’re working hard to reduce that number and return these people to their families. Did you know that there were over 1400 missing persons cases created in the NamUs database last month? At the beginning of each month, we release a new report that details how many cases come in and out of the database. As we observe International Missing Children’s Day, we want to acknowledge and support the ongoing efforts of investigators, coroners, medical examiners, and all allied criminal justice professionals that are actively working to return missing children to their families.

Since 2007, NamUs has helped with the resolution of more than 20,000 cases involving missing children. 17 years later, we continue to be a resource for missing and unidentified persons of all ages.
