Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS)

It is with a sad heart that I tell our DDACTS partners about the loss of one of our amazing DDACTS SMEs, Deputy Chief Mike Alexander, Metro/Nashville Police Department.

Mike joined our team at the very beginning of the project in 2009 and taught in over 40 DDACTS workshops throughout the country, winning individuals and agencies over to the DDACTS model. He also served by providing hours of technical assistance to other commanders and chiefs, wanting to know more about implementing the model. His direct efforts saved countless lives and our DDACTS family is grateful for his commitment to traffic safety and his tremendous gift of friendship.

May he rest in peace in his version of heaven: a beautiful summer's day at the beach!

Metro police Deputy Chief Mike Alexander dead at 53 Alexander was a 31-year veteran of the Metro Nashville Police Department beginning his career shortly after graduating from MTSU.

Our DDACTS team made up of Dan Howard, IADLEST, Craig Spingarn, Denver CO PD and Peggy Schaefer, IADLEST recently traveled to the Virgin Islands to conduct a successful DDACTS Workshop. All of the Virgin Islands Police Department participants were receptive to learning how High-Visibility-Engagement can help to reduce their crashes and crime. VI Office of Highway Safety Provides Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety Certification The Police Traffic Services Program provided certification training to 20 employees of the VIPD, which included police crime and investigative analysts, VIOHS coordinators, and traffic investigation and training bureau officers from both island districts.
