To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we launched a new tour, Remembering the Revolution! Join Capitol Conversations tomorrow, Wednesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. for a virtual version to learn how the Revolutionary War is portrayed in the Capitol's art.

In May 1775, Colonel-Commandant Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys militia captured Fort Ticonderoga from the British in New York.
This victory provided much-needed artillery to the Continental Army. General Henry Knox transported this artillery over the Berkshire Mountains to Boston to expel the British there. Today, a marble statue of Ethan Allen, gifted by Vermont, stands in National Statuary Hall.
