As of July 2015, the number of sexual offenses in the Howard community had quadrupled since 2014. Although the number is still relatively small, it is important for women on campus to take precaution. The R**e Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques designed for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. Bison Connect is one of the many free services HUDPS offers to Howard students, staff and faculty to improve communication between the community and the police department.
