A new article published by the Environmental Defense Fund explains why Brazil’s new PRONAR could play a major role in improving air quality and reducing health risks across the country.

The analysis includes contributions from the Executive Director of the Clean Air Institute, who highlights the importance of strong implementation, technical capacity, and collaboration between governments, civil society, and experts to turn policy into real impact.

"Las termoeléctricas a carbón están ocasionando daños a la salud que son prevenibles mediante una regulación ambiental adecuada y una transición energética justa".

Esta es una de las principales conclusiones del primer estudio realizado en Colombia que estima el impacto de tres termoeléctricas a carbón sobre la contaminación del aire y sus efectos en la salud. El estudio fue desarrollado por POLEN Transiciones Justas, la Universidad Industrial de Santander y el Clean Air Institute.

The recording of the webinar “Industrial Emissions Monitoring”, held on October 16, 2025, is now available online. The event was organized by UNEP’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean with the support of the Clean Air Institute.

The webinar explores:

🔹 Methodologies, technologies, and best practices to measure, monitor, and characterize emissions from the industrial sector.
🔹 Approaches to monitoring, compliance, and enforcement that support effective air quality management and environmental regulation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

🌎 The session brought together representatives from government institutions, the private sector, NGOs, international organizations, and academia from 23 countries across the region.
