Please join the ACPD's public meeting on how U.S. public diplomacy programs can help promote American prosperity on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 11:00am to 12:30pm ET. We will hear from State Department officials, international exchange program implementers, and Americans who participate in and directly benefit from U.S. public diplomacy programs. The meeting will be held at the University of Southern California Capital Campus, 1771 N Street NW, Room 202, Washington, DC 20036. Please join the ACPD's public meeting on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm ET, where a panel of experts will discuss the People’s Republic of China’s approach to public diplomacy and utilizing the information space to advance PRC objectives.

As the ACPD lays out in our 2024 Annual Comprehensive Report, the PRC spends billions of dollars per year on public diplomacy activities and state-sponsored media to directly reach people throughout the world to shape global opinion and advance its foreign policy objectives.

Our panel will include Samantha Custer, Director of Policy Analysis at AidData, Sarah Cook, author of the UnderReported China newsletter, and Igor Patrick, author of Hearts & Minds, Votes & Contracts: China's State Media in Latin America.

The meeting will be held at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, First St SE, Washington, DC, Room SVC-203. Please allow time to go through security. We hope you will join us in person or online.

The 2024 Comprehensive Annual Report on Public Diplomacy and International Broadcasting, published by the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy in fulfillment of its congressional mandate, assesses the major public diplomacy and global media activities conducted by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), https://www.state.gov/2024-comprehensive-annual-report-on-public-diplomacy-and-international-broadcasting/

The report examines the resources, programs, and strategies that the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for Global Media use to advance U.S. foreign policy objectives. We have framed this report in the context of global competition between the United States and state and non-state actors who are competing directly with each other and for the hearts and minds of people far beyond their borders, recognizing the power of personal persuasion through proliferating information.

Well-resourced, effective public diplomacy is critical for successfully promoting American interests throughout the world. We hope that this report’s recommendations will help the State Department, the broader Executive Branch, and Congress continue to innovate and improve our PD efforts to sustain U.S. leadership in a competitive global environment.

Please join us for a U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy (ACPD) quarterly public meeting on Expo 2025. The meeting will feature ACPD’s Commission members and welcome Sarah Arkin, Executive Director, to moderate a panel of experts on the role international expositions have in promoting U.S. interests, with an eye towards the State Department’s coordination of the USA Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, held from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

Цьогорічний форум покликаний об’єднати провідних експертів з України та інших країн для обговорення ідей, найкращих практик, викликів і майбутнього міжнародної культурної дипломатії та культурних відносин. Зокрема, експерти говоритимуть про те, як культурна дипломатія вийшла за межі розбудови миру та набула нових функцій стримування та захисту політичного суверенітету. А також про нетрадиційні практики культурних відносин, запроваджені країнами, які пережили війну чи збройний конфлікт.
