Over the last couple weeks, the Age-Friendly DC task forces has been busy looking into our 5-year progress. Getting out of the house can be challenging, but you can still interact with others in your community! Age-Friendly DC has teamed up with AARP, GW Center for Aging, Health and Humanities and So Others Might Eat to bring the conversation to you! Voices of Wisdom is a conversation group conducted by phone in your own home that allows you to talk to other DC residents about topics of interest to you, and areas you might be interested in exploring. Here in DC, 71% of our older adults participate in social/cultural activities. Keeping active in the community by volunteering, touring museums and visiting your local recreation centers are great ways to get to know new people and engage with peers and younger people in the area.
