✨ Happy Holidays from Anne’s Place ✨

This season, we are filled with gratitude. Thank you to Holy Trinity Catholic Church for so generously including Anne’s Place residents in your Christmas Giving Tree this year. Your kindness helped make the holidays brighter and reminded our residents that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

We are deeply thankful for community partners who show up with compassion and generosity—especially at this time of year. Wishing everyone peace, warmth, and joy throughout the holidays and into the New Year. ❤️

Last week we kicked off the giving season with our Breakfast With A Purpose. From now until November 20, any gift to Anne's Place will be matched by a generous donor - just indicate your gift is associated with our Breakfast With A Purpose event.

📢 Attention supporters of Anne’s Place:
Important tax law changes are coming that could affect how you give. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill, starting in 2026:

A new “floor” means charitable deductions will only apply for giving above 0.5% of your adjusted gross income (AGI). NPTrust+2Chariot+2

For donors in the highest tax bracket, the value of each dollar of deduction will be capped at 35% (instead of today’s ~37%). Fidelity Charitable+1

A new universal deduction is introduced for cash gifts by non-itemizers (up to $1,000 for singles, $2,000 for joint filers) — but importantly, gifts made to donor‐advised funds (DAFs) do not qualify for this deduction. Kiplinger+1

💡 What this means for you:
You can maximize your impact by acting now — making your gift to Anne’s Place directly this year could lock in more generous tax treatment and help us continue providing permanent supportive housing and case management for our residents.

🙏 Call to Action:
If you’ve been considering a gift this year, please make it early and direct it to Anne’s Place (rather than placing it in a DAF first).
Reach out to our team for help or to discuss how your gift will support our mission of housing stability and dignity for individuals living with chronic illness and disabilities.

Thank you for being a part of our community and helping ensure that every person has a home and a chance. Let’s give with purpose — and plan with impact.

Homelessness is an economic issue. People become homeless when housing costs are too high. Even if people work, many still don’t earn enough to pay rent. In DC if you earn minimum wage, each week you have to work 90 hours to afford a modest 1-bedroom rental home at fair market rent. (National Low Income Housing Coalition)

✨ Meet Sue Ducat! ✨
Philanthropist | Board Member | Community Champion

Sue’s heartfelt belief: philanthropy is more than donations—it’s about doing. After a meaningful career in broadcasting and nonprofit comms, Sue carried forward the legacy of her late husband, Stanley Cohen, by launching the Sue & Stanley Cohen Memorial Fund. Now in its third year, the fund supports Jewish teens through BBYO’s International Kallah summer camps—helping them connect deeply with their heritage and identity. “These experiences are life‑changing,” she says.

Sue also invests in preserving Jewish history—backing Holocaust education initiatives and spearheading storytelling at the Capital Jewish Museum. And she’s been a vibrant presence at Adas Israel Congregation and Anne’s Place for nearly four decades, offering her time and compassion as much as her support.

Her message to all of us: find a cause that moves you—then immerse yourself in it. Thanks, Sue, for teaching us what generosity really means. 🌿✡️

July is Disability Pride Month. 💛

It’s a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and voices of people with disabilities, as well as acknowledging the barriers they still face, especially when it comes to housing. At Anne’s Place, we believe housing is a human right, not a privilege. That’s why we provide supportive housing designed to meet the needs of all residents including those living with physical, intellectual, and mental health disabilities. This month, as we honor Disability Pride, we recommit to breaking down the barriers that keep people from having a safe place to call home.
