In this episode of Does It Profit?, Dr. Dawn Carpenter asks a simple question: Where do people go to belong?

More women are starting businesses, but ownership does not guarantee access. Barriers to capital and growth remain, especially in spaces like game store ownership.

Whitney Wolfe did not plan to be an entrepreneur. She wanted a place to gather and connect. That idea became Last Place on Earth in Brooklyn, opened just as the world shut down. Through reinvention, she built a thriving community and later expanded with Third Place from the Sun.

This is a story about more than games. It is about how connection creates value and how the best businesses are not just places to spend, but places to belong.
