An important responsibility of the Board is overseeing development of NAEP frameworks, outlining what knowledge and skills students should be assessed on in each National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) assessment.

We recently hosted a public comment period to see if and how the civics framework needs updating. The Board received 38 comments, all of which called for a revision.

Today, the Board is taking action to update the NAEP civics framework, which begins with an open nominations process to recruit panelists to give expertise and insight.

Thank you to everyone who provided public comment. More details on the panel forthcoming.
