🧀🍇 Learning New Skills, Building Connections! 🎉

Yesterday, our students got hands-on experience in a Charcuterie Class as they prepared for our upcoming TNS Connection Series Happy Hour! 🙌

This special event will bring together students, staff, alumni, and community supporters to celebrate an exciting new chapter for TNS as we work to amend our charter, remove age restrictions, and expand opportunities for DC residents of all ages!

🎓 Our Story. Our Community. Our Next Step.

The Next Step PCS began as LAYC’s Teen Parent Program, supporting pregnant and parenting teens through academics, parenting skills, self-esteem, and future planning. In 1996, it became one of Washington, D.C.’s first charter schools.

Today, The Next Step PCS is an adult charter school open to all D.C. residents ages 16–30. TNS is designed for the working student, parenting student, hardworking student, and anyone ready to take the next step toward their goals. The school provides a supportive, flexible environment where students can balance education with work, family, and other responsibilities while preparing for their future.

The Next Step PCS comenzó como el Programa para Adolescentes con Hijos de LAYC, brindando apoyo a jóvenes embarazadas y padres adolescentes mediante el desarrollo académico, la enseñanza de habilidades de crianza, el fortalecimiento de la autoestima y la planificación del futuro. En 1996, se convirtió en una de las primeras escuelas *charter* de Washington, D.C.

Hoy en día, The Next Step PCS es una escuela *charter* para adultos abierta a todos los residentes de D.C. de entre 16 y 30 años. TNS está diseñada para el estudiante que trabaja, el estudiante con hijos, el estudiante dedicado y cualquier persona lista para dar el siguiente paso hacia sus metas. Tomorrow, October 7, our Executive Director, Dra. Vivian Robledo, will moderate the AI Education Leadership Summit, joining 300 leaders from across DC to discuss how we can prepare every student to thrive in an age of AI.

Dra. Robledo will lead the session, Durable Skills and Digital Fluency: Must-Haves for Career Pathways Beyond High School, exploring the skills students need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
