On this date in 1999, Firefighter Anthony S. Phillips, Sr. Eng. 10, died of injuries sustained in a fire at 3146 Cherry Rd. NE, Box 6178.
Firefighter Louis J. Matthews, Engine 26, succcumbed the following day to injuries sustained at the same fire.

Today, we celebrate the remarkable career of Fire Safety Education Specialist, Ms. Patricia Everett, as she retires after more than 40 years of dedicated service to the District of Columbia.
Patricia has been a cherished member of our Fire Prevention Division, spending decades educating residents, promoting fire safety, and helping protect countless lives throughout our community. Her passion, professionalism, and commitment to public service have left a lasting impact on both the department and the people she served.
Please join us in congratulating Patricia on her well-earned retirement and thanking her for over four decades of service to the citizens of Washington, DC.

from Engine 12 participated in today’s National Memorial Day Parade.
Truck 05 and Truck 09 provided a ladder arch with a large US flag for all parade participants to pass under, and honor and remember the fallen.
We are also proud to provide medical support for this annual tradition.
