Movimiento was present, this week, at The Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.
The event featured three days of thoughtful dialogue about how we sustainably power our future as Latinos in this great country of ours.
Throughout the duration of the summit, we heard from some of our great nation's leaders such as Senators and Menendez, Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Don Cravins Jr., Deputy Secretary of Treasury Adeyemo, US Small Business Administrator Casillas Guzman and U.S. Surgeon General Murthy.
As America rebuilds, Hispanic Business is a key driver of our economy's revitalization. The USHCC 2023 Legislative Summit welcomed vast exploration of countless innovative opportunities through public policy, procurement, advocacy, and access to necessary technical assistance to build back better.

The bill to restore the vote was signed into law today by . A bill which restores voting rights automatically to individuals with past felony convictions so long as they are not incarcerated.
Previously, Minnesotan’s with felony convictions were denied the right to vote while they were still living in their community, caring for their families, working jobs and paying taxes — even if they had never spent any time in prison or only served a short jail sentence.
Restoring the vote is an important part of valuing all Minnesotans as members of our society. It also dismantles residual Jim Crow laws by ensuring people who have experienced incarceration, criminalization, and imprisonment receive restoration of their voting rights but most importantly, restoring the rights granted by citizenship restores their voice and dignity — and restored people also restore and empower our communities.

The struggle for Driver’s Licenses for All has lasted two decades. In 2003, the governor unilaterally revoked the right of all Minnesotans – regardless of immigration status – to obtain a driver’s license so long as they passed the written test and obtained insurance. We are on the cusp of restoring that right.
Join us at the Minnesota State Capitol tomorrow at 5 p.m.!
Also, call your Minnesota Senator and urge them to support Driver’s Licenses for All (SF 27)!
Currently, eighteen states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico allow residents to access driver’s licenses regardless of immigration status. Issuing licenses without proof of immigration status would not only benefit immigrants, but also those experiencing homelessness, the elderly, and other groups who may have difficulty obtaining hard-to-access documentation.
