On June 8th, 1967, Israel was at war with Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon.
Dubbed “The Six Day War”.

The USS Liberty (pictured) was a U.S. Navy SIGINT (signals intelligence) ship operating in international waters off the Sinai Peninsula.

Israel tried to sink the USS Liberty for almost 90 minutes.

This includes:
- Being strafed by fighters aircraft.
- Na**lm being dropped on the ship.
- Torpedo boats launching torpedoes.

Results:
- 31 USN Sailors killed
- 2 USMC Marines killed
- 1 NSA Civilian Contractor killed.
For a grand total of 34 Americans killed with 171 Americans wounded.

USS Liberty had been carrying out its mission of observing and recording the Six- Day War.

Is it believed the ship had recorded radio communications of Israeli ground forces committing war crimes against its adversaries and knew the ship had done so.
These recordings remain behind red tape and are not available to the public.

Intelligence officers of the time say they have heard the recordings.

One Israeli pilot acknowledges the ship is American. But is told to “follow orders”.

Israel later claimed they believed they were attacking an Egyptian naval vessel and the USS Liberty was the victim of a
“tragic case of mistaken identity”.
