We Certify Air Safety

America’s federal employees serve their country every day—they swore an oath to do so: “I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and … I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.” We owe two million federal workers a debt of gratitude, this week and every week. PASS is proud to represent hundreds of administrative employees who support the nation’s air traffic control system and the Federal Aviation Administration. Without them the world's largest, safest and most complex aviation system doesn't run smoothly! Thanks to these dedicated federal workers for their service to PASS and to the American flying public.

On a beautiful spring morning in 1995, a domestic terrorist deliberately attacked the federal government and its employees. On the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, PASS remembers the 168 lives lost, including 108 federal employees. Eleven of our colleagues at the U.S. Department of Transportation were killed that day. These dedicated public servants had gone to work at the Murrah Federal Building to do their jobs on behalf of the American public. We honor their memory and service. Each day during Women's History Month, the AFL-CIO has been highlighting union activists across the country. PASS is honored to see our own Lisa Cuales among them! Lisa is the PASS chapter president in New Mexico and, as a Federal Aviation Administration employee, works at the Albuquerque air traffic control tower. During the 2025 government shutdown she was furloughed without pay but continued to support her colleagues at the ATCT by providing meals!

PASS is proud of its long association with the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association - MEBA. Our founding father Howard Johannssen made sure our future was secure with MEBA!

151 years ago, America's oldest maritime union was born: the original delegates and founders of the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association - MEBA gathered in Cleveland, Ohio on February 23, 1875 to fight for safer, fairer working conditions in the maritime industry.
