I enjoyed visiting the team at Christian Outreach Center in Baton Rouge! Their partnership with DoorDash’s Project DASH helps get food to neighbors in need. 

We also discussed my Unlocking Benefits for Independent Workers Act with local Dashers. My bill would help independent workers access health care and save for a secure retirement without giving up the freedom to work how and when they want.

Today I requested that the Senate pass the bipartisan Patients Deserve Price Tags Act.

Patients should know what their health care costs before they receive it. This bill gives them the ability to compare prices, bringing transparency and competition to health care.

This legislation shows the success we can have when we work together on shared priorities. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., Senator John Hickenlooper, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and I worked to advance a bill that puts patients first.

The Senate should pass it.

25 years later, we will never forget those which we lost on September 11, 2001–their heroism, patriotism, and love of country. May we use that as an example to us to live our lives the same.

Today we are saying goodbye to our second session summer interns. Over the past 6 weeks, they have contributed a great deal of wisdom and energy to my office.

I have loved getting to know each one of them, and look forward to seeing where the future takes them!
