The D.C. Greening Embassies Forum is a partnership between the U.S. Department of State, the Earth Da Department of State, the Earth Day Network and the D.C.

diplomatic community. English write-up: Ambassador Glyn Davies recently addressed the Bangkok Eco-Capitals Forum Green Bangkok 2018 Conference at the Australian Embassy. Ten of Bangkok’s largest diplomatic missions, representatives from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Environment Department, Bangkok and Mahidol Universities, Bangkok River Partners, and environmentally-focused NGO’s and businesses attended the event. The Conference featured a series of speakers who showcased greening successes. The Conference focused on promoting solid waste management, reduction in the use of styrofoam and plastics, energy usage reduction in our office buildings, promoting green spaces and environmental awareness activities.

Congrats to our friends at French Embassy in the U.S.!

The French Embassy in D.C. is a . Since 2009 the Embassy has been working to reduce its ecological and carbon footprint and has decreased its energy consumption by 50%! The , the French Embassy's event space, is considered one of the best green buildings in Washington D.C.!

Join us for on Wednesday, May 3rd from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at the Department of Energy & Environment for a transportation workshop with representatives from goDCgo, Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA), and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Presenters will cover the different memberships and/or pass options for riding public transit and bikeshare, how to safely navigate DC by bike, and what apps are available to aid in trip planning. This workshop aims to help embassies in their work towards meeting the transportation goals in the Diplomatic Institution Sustainability Pledge.

Location: Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) 1200 First Street NE, 5th floor. The closest metro station - NoMa/Gallaudet University on the red line – is located two blocks east.
