Today, Assistant Secretary of Commerce and NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson announced the launch of a Request for Comment seeking public input into what policies will help businesses, government, and the public be able to trust that artificial intelligence (AI) systems work as claimed – and without causing harm.

As new AI systems sweep across the globe, they’ve demonstrated the potential to transform everything about the nature of work, play, and life in our communities.

President Biden has been clear that when it comes to AI, we must both support responsible innovation and ensure appropriate guardrails to protect Americans’ rights and safety.

Working with partners in the private sector and civil society, the administration is developing a whole-of-nation strategy to meet this significant moment in development.
