On June 1–2, 1941, during Shavuot, more than 180 Iraqi Jews were murdered in Baghdad and Basra in the anti-Semitic, Nazi-inspired ‘Farhud’ pogrom.

This often forgotten massacre marked the beginning of the end for Iraq’s 2,500-year-old Jewish community and accelerated the end of 2,000 years of coexistence between Jews and Muslims in Iraq.

We were so proud to be part of this year’s Israel Day on Fifth in New York City! 🇮🇱🇺🇸

At a time of surging anti-Semitism, it’s more important than ever to come together in support of the Jewish state.

Thank you to everyone who came out to march for Israel and stand with the Jewish people!

For over 50 years, B’nai B’rith has been an advocate for older Americans, maintaining and enhancing its network of subsidized housing for seniors across the country, and supporting training for board members and personnel who run the buildings.

Working with our members and supporters, our senior advocacy work advances B’nai B’rith’s agenda on issues including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, funding for the aging services network and any federal programs that impact their quality of life—to policymakers in Washington, D.C. and nationwide.

Two Jewish women pushed out of Spanish spa, allegedly after staffers see Star of David necklace in disturbing video 05/31/2026

The reported expulsion of two Jewish women from a spa in Barcelona because they were wearing Stars of David is the latest appalling and unacceptable incident of normalized in everyday life.

No one should face discrimination, harassment and expulsion because of their faith. We condemn this anti-Semitism and stand with those targeted with hate for being Jewish.

B’nai B’rith’s disaster relief program dates to the 19th century, and we continue today to aid those suffering in the wake of natural and man-made disasters:

1995—Donated $500,000 to victims affected by the terrorist bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK.

2001—Raised $150,000 for victims of the September 11 attacks.

2005—Raised $1.1 million for Gulf Coast hurricane survivors in the United States.

2006—B’nai B’rith President Joel S. Kaplan brought our international policy conference to New Orleans, LA, to stand with a city still reeling from Hurricane Katrina—giving attendees a firsthand look at the rebuilding and recovery projects we sponsored.

2013—Directed donations from the B’nai B’rith Disaster Relief Fund to One Fund Boston, the charity supporting survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing.

2020–2021—Provided thousands of COVID-19 relief kits nationwide, with our community coordinators donating them on behalf of B’nai B’rith International to local agencies dedicated to serving their communities. These kits continued our global COVID-19 relief work, which launched in March 2020 with donations of face shields and food aid to people in need.

Israel cuts ties with UN chief for adding IDF to war-zone sexual violence blacklist 05/29/2026

We deplore in the strongest terms the U.N. secretary-general’s office including Israel on a list of perpetrators of sexual violence in conflict, alongside foremost jihadist groups and regimes that actually are guilty of incomparable, intentional and systemic such atrocities. This inclusion and equation would represent a lie and a libel, one inflicting unpardonable harm not only on Israel and on efforts at peacemaking, but on the U.N.

Israel, despite its ceaselessly threatening environment, is the sole Middle Eastern country that upholds a humane democracy’s human rights standards, particularly including gender equality. U.N. tarnishing of such a country and its entire corps of civil servants and vital defense personnel—on account of partisan political motivations and overt double standards—must not be allowed to pass.

B’nai B’rith has launched the Daniel S. Mariaschin Institute for Leadership and Public Policy, named in honor of our retiring CEO, whose decades of leadership have shaped our global voice on human rights, diplomacy and Jewish communal advocacy.

During a gala tribute in his honor, Mariaschin reflected: “I am particularly grateful to B’nai B’rith, its officers, board members, colleagues and friends, for the special tribute on the occasion of my retirement. It has given Michal and me an opportunity to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ in person, for the privilege of working at B’nai B’rith for 38 years and leading it for 27.”

He added: “Thank you for giving a guy from a tiny Jewish community in New Hampshire the tremendous opportunity to serve…the Jewish people writ large.”
