In the 1968 film Grand Prix the observation is offered that the course is so murderous that the skill of the drivers doesn’t even enter into it. All you need to know about the race is that it will kill most drivers and produce an absurd and dangerous result. And so it is with American politics. It produces grotesquely wrong outcomes and unless modified it always will.
