Following a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery today, their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, with Rear-Admiral Kristjan Monaghan, Canadian Defence Attaché, met with Canadian Armed Forces members based in Washington, D.C. It was a chance to connect with those serving away from home and to hear directly about their experiences in the United States.

The Canadian Cross of Sacrifice is a gift from Canada to the United States, dedicated in 1927. The monument honours Americans who volunteered to serve in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War, before the United States entered the conflict.

More than 40,000 U.S. residents enlisted. The Cross stands as a quiet reminder that the bonds of service extend beyond borders.

We’ll never forget when Canadian and his NASA crewmates visited the Embassy in 2023, after the Artemis II crew was announced. 🚀

After 10 days and some incredible lunar flyby views, we’ll be watching as Artemis II prepares to splashdown tonight!

The RCMP’s offices in Los Angeles and Montreal worked with the FBI from 2022 to 2024 on this case. Through strong collaboration and covert operations, law enforcement stopped 951 kg of co***ne, 845 kg of methamphetamine and 4 kg of he**in from reaching Canada’s streets.

This is a strong example of how cross-border collaboration keeps people safe on both sides of the border.

Canada is rebuilding, rearming, and reinvesting in our Armed Forces. By modernising critical infrastructure, building new facilities, and expanding training and operational capacity, we’re building a strong and sovereign Canada.
