Elk 2.0 for Grasshopper has been released. For anyone that doesn't know, about four years ago I wrote a plugin called Elk for the Rhino/Grasshopper platform that allows you to generate topographies from USGS and mapping information from OpenStreetMap.org. It's been a long time coming, but I've finally finished updating it and released it into the wild this morning. -- Tim Logan

This year’s challenge will examine the old streetcar rail system situated directly under DuPont Circle; a prominent and thriving part of Washington D.C. Each team is asked to examine the relationship between architecture and community by delving deeply into the social fabric of D.C. at both the micro and macro levels in order to develop a design intervention that is sensitive to its immediate surroundings whilst also looking to challenge and serve as a platform for creative design solutions.
