Thanks UFCW Local 135 for this affirming message sent out to all our Union siblings!

As we close out Women’s History Month, we honor all of the ladies who make our union what it is. From grocery stores, pharmacies, labs, and union offices to the airport, dispensaries, casino, and dental offices, women across every industry are the strength behind UFCW Local 135.

Their hard work, leadership, and solidarity are what make our union mighty. Every shift worked, every action taken, every voice raised builds the power that moves us forward together.

To all our union sisters: thank you for everything you do, this month, and every month.

According to the Government of Canada, on average, women earn 23% less than men globally.

As 4 days remain in our countdown to International Women's Day, UFCW Locals 175 & 633 calls for enhanced and enforceable pay transparency and pay equity legislation.

Unionized workplaces already demonstrate how more complete pay transparency can work effectively. “Pay transparency only works when paired with accountability and enforceable standards,” said President Kelly Tosato. “In unionized workplaces, salary grids, classifications, and wage rates are negotiated, written into collective agreements, and accessible to all members. Transparency reduces discrimination, limits arbitrary pay decisions, and promotes fairness across genders and job classes.”

It's Black History Month. Let us celebrate some amazing Black women who have blazed the way!!!

IN MEMORIAM: Remembering Rosa Parks, a Black woman whose 1955 refusal to give up her seat on an Alabama city bus to a white man sparked a civil rights revolution, born on this day in 1913.

In 1995, she spoke to ABC News' Deborah Roberts and reflected on not giving up her bus seat: https://abcnews.visitlink.me/i-qb3D

Congrats to the Women in UFCW Region 5 for their hard work coordinating and collaborating to bring together the constituency group Social Hour. Elizabeth Chambers Troller; UFCW 1625 is a great advocate for women and a powerhouse Coordinator for Region-5 Women's Network.

Only together can we build a stronger, more powerful Union where we are raising standards and making change. Kudos to all involved for making this even great!
