We had a wonderful time with Food & Friends delivering meals to our Ward 6 Neighbors. And we even got a peek at the expansion to their Fort Totten facilities, which is expected to help double their production in the future!

🚲 πŸ›΄ It's time to make e-scooters and e-bikes safer for everyone in DC.

And change is coming. DDOT is in the process of re-bidding the contract that companies like Lime and VEO operate under, and with it, the chance to change the rules around safety.

We need to get riders off sidewalks, no more ditching and dumping e-scooters and e-bikes, and making sure people use these vehicles responsibly.

πŸ‘¨β€βš–οΈ The DC Council tackled rats, getting residents enrolled in utility benefits, and more during Tuesday's legislative session!

πŸ”Œ My legislation passed to cut utility bills for around 30,000 District households by automatically enrolling eligible residents in existing utility discount programs.

πŸ€ We also looked at the REMY Act (yes, that Remy), a comprehensive bill to rethink how we are able to use different tools at our disposal to go after rats.

I introduced the RESALE Act because companies like the ones behind this lawsuit are gouging DC residents using technology to scoop up as many live music tickets as they can and resell them at inflated prices – a scam that’s been extremely lucrative for them for years.

Under my bill, that show is over.

However, it’s not surprising to see them try for an encore to preserve these enormous profits and the status quo. I think their time would be better spent preparing for January 1 when music fans will finally catch a break on the outrageous price mark-ups.

πŸ‘¨β€βš–οΈ A big day after Tuesday's legislative session.

We had final passage on Eric's ID, which allows individuals who have non apparent disabilities to have a marker on their ID (a butterfly in this case πŸ¦‹). When a first responder or law enforcement sees this on a license, they'll be able to quickly understand the type of interaction they could have.

πŸ”Œ My bill on autoenrollment just went through its first passage today, which helps ensure 30,000 households in DC, who are eligible for utility assistance, get that relief automatically.

πŸš… 🚌 And we just gave approval to contracts for WMATA and DDOT to get the project going at Stadium-Armory Metro station to expand. And this includes getting the ball rolling on the Gold Line. πŸ…

🌞 πŸ‚ And then, we gave approval to the COOLS Act which helps change the date when heating and cool has to start in the fall and spring (which I've heard from plenty of my Southwest neighbors about!).
