An Army soldier is on active duty. He and his spouse have four children, all American. The family lives on his paycheck.
Trump's regime sent that family a bill for more than a million dollars.
The spouse had been ordered deported, and the bill is a fine for staying. But the same government had also approved the soldier's petition to sponsor his spouse. The bill came anyway. Then the Treasury moved to take the spouse's wages and seized the couple's tax refund. Then the government sued.
All of it is in a sworn statement in a federal court file in Boston. Scott dug it out. Reuters and Fox News both covered that case this week, and neither story mentions the soldier.
There's more in the file. A robbery victim got a bill for about $1.8 million and swore, "At first, I thought this was a scam."
The regime says it has a way to make a bill like that disappear. The way tells you what the bill was for.
Last year the regime rewrote its own rule so these bills arrive by regular mail with no warning first. On Monday a federal judge's ruling on that rule hit the docket.
