"I was born shell-shocked by the aftershocks of previous afterlives/
And still, I’m ahead of my time/
I died once to become blind / And saw 2 scores into the future with 20/20 vision/
My eyes were watching God through 'meditated' contact lenses/
And now this lifetime is blessed with intuition..." - Sage Salvo

We keep getting asked/ tasked with turning this battle into curriculum because kids are so immersed in it. I pause for two reasons. And So for my educators, (especially this time of the school year when EOY Exams are here, the summer is looming, and you need an extra clip), WE ARE evaluating this Kdot vs Drake series for literacy learning objectives. HOWEVER, my initial thought is this belongs in a college course. The themes are so mature, and the literary devices are extremely sophisticated. I think applicable themes for high school would be: exploring “Grooming” and Pe******ia, (especially as background knowledge development for high school girls), Mother-to-son & Father-to-son relationships; betrayal, and the “tragic comedy” of Drake as a character in the drama that is 2000’s Hip Hop. The literacy dev for high schoolers, could be Syntax and Verbal Reasoning through argument syllogism, symbolism, extended metaphor, complex simile, and antithesis… at least. The problem is the context of the subject matter. And that’s why I haven’t jumped out there yet to advocate for this to be curriculum support just yet. BUT, we working on it 😉
