Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States Edil Baisalov presented his credentials to President of the United States Donald J. Trump.
On May 21, 2026, an official credential presentation ceremony took place at the White House, during which Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States Edil Baisalov presented his credentials to President Donald J. Trump.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Baisalov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to further strengthening Kyrgyz-American cooperation.
Ambassador Baisalov emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic highly values the support provided by the United States since the first years of the country’s independence and expressed appreciation for the consistently high attention given by the United States to cooperation with Central Asia and the region.
President Trump welcomed the new Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed readiness to further advance bilateral relations. The American leader underscored the importance of the warm ties between the peoples of the two countries and expressed confidence that Ambassador Baisalov’s mission would contribute to strengthening political and economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States of America.

Today at the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., a roundtable discussion on “Central Asia: Peaceful Borders, Shared Future” was held under the moderation of Ambassador John E. Herbst.
The Ambassadors of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan presented the historic peaceful settlement of border issues among the three countries — a major achievement for regional stability, good-neighbourly relations and cooperation in Central Asia.
The discussion highlighted how sustained dialogue, political will and practical compromise made it possible to resolve some of the most complex border questions in the Ferghana Valley, including innovative solutions related to water management, transport access and shared infrastructure.
Central Asia’s experience demonstrates that even the most difficult border issues can be resolved peacefully — through trust, mutual respect and a shared vision for the future.

President Sadyr Zhaparov Appeals to World Leaders Ahead of United Nations Security Council Elections
President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov has addressed heads of state and government ahead of the election of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to be held on 3 June 2026 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
In his appeal, President Zhaparov calls upon United Nations Member States to support the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for the 2027-2028 term on the Security Council.
The President emphasizes that broader representation of small, developing and landlocked countries is essential to preserving the legitimacy, balance and effectiveness of the United Nations system at a time of growing geopolitical tensions and armed conflicts across the world.
President Zhaparov underlines Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, preventive diplomacy, peaceful conflict resolution, nuclear disarmament and sustainable development.
The address also highlights Kyrgyzstan’s successful experience in resolving all border delimitation issues with neighboring states exclusively through peaceful negotiations and dialogue, as well as the country’s active engagement in international humanitarian and environmental initiatives.
“The election of Kyrgyzstan would reflect the commitment of the international community to fair representation and equal opportunity for all Member States within the United Nations,” President Zhaparov states in his appeal.
The Kyrgyz Republic is seeking election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

On May 7, at Blair House, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States Edil Baisalov presented copies of his credentials to Ambassador Monica Crowley, Chief of Protocol of the United States. Following the ceremony, Ambassador Baisalov formally assumed his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States of America.
