Advocating for our seniors is at the heart of everything we do at Vida Senior Centers.
Today, we had the honor of joining the National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA) Capitol Hill Briefing to stand up for the issues that matter most to our community — Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Alzheimer's and aging, HIV prevention, and prescription drug affordability.
We also had a powerful conversation with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on the critical need for affordable housing, the vital role senior centers play in our communities, and the irreplaceable value of culturally diverse spaces like Vida Senior Center for older adults. Our seniors deserve to be seen, heard, and protected — and we will never stop fighting for them.
🙏🏽Thank you, NHCOA, for your unwavering advocacy and for bringing these important voices to the table.

🕊️ In Loving Memory!!
Yesterday, we gathered with our Vidas family — seniors and staff — to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman who graced our community for several beautiful years.
She was a warrior — strong in spirit, yet humble in heart. A woman of deep peace who embraced life with joy and gratitude every single day. Her love for life was infectious, and all who had the privilege of knowing her felt it.
What defined her most was her family. They stood by her side until her very last breath, a reflection of the values she spent a lifetime planting in their hearts — respect, unity, and unconditional love. That is her legacy, and it will live on through every generation she touched.
To her family: thank you for sharing her with our Vidas community. We are forever grateful for the light she brought into our halls.
🌹 Rest in perfect peace, dear warrior. You are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
This Older Americans Month, we celebrate the strength, wisdom, joy, and resilience of the older adults who make our community so special.
At Vida Senior Centers, every smile, every story, and every moment reminds us why our mission matters: creating spaces where seniors feel valued, connected, and supported.
Thank you to our participants, staff, volunteers, and community partners for helping us honor and uplift older adults every day. Our dear Jovina Guillén de León a pioneer of Vida's "Mano Amiga" program. Her tangible legacy to her Senior fellows. Gracias Mrs. Guillen!
💃✨ Tuesday Energy at Vida Brightwood! Our amazing seniors are kicking off the week with the best kind of medicine — music, movement, and pure joy! Watch them light up the room and remind us all that age is just a number.

Celebrating Older Americans Month at Vida Senior Centers.
This May, we honor the wisdom, strength, joy, and contributions of the older adults who are at the heart of our community. At Vida, our work is centered on supporting seniors with care, dignity, cultural connection, wellness activities, nutrition, social engagement, and a welcoming space where they feel valued every day.
For decades, Vida Senior Centers has been committed to enriching the lives of older adults and helping them stay active, connected, and supported. This month, we celebrate not only their stories, but also the community we continue building together.

This week, Vida Senior Centers' Senior Advocacy Group joined advocates, community leaders, and dedicated volunteers from across Washington, DC at the 2025 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service ceremony — and what a celebration it was.
The Andrus Award is AARP's most prestigious volunteer honor, recognizing individuals 50+ who give their time, talent, and heart to strengthen the communities around them. Named after AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus — who lived by the motto "To serve, not to be served" — this award is a reminder that volunteerism is a force that never retires.
We are grateful for the leadership of State Volunteer President of AARP DC DC Ronald Hampton, and Louis Davis Jr., State Director of AARP DC and his wonderful team— pillars of an organization that keeps this mission alive and thriving across the District as part of AARP national.
And to every volunteer honored today — you show up. Every day. You engage. Every day. You deliver. That is extraordinary, and the entire community sees it.
Vida Senior Centers is proud to stand alongside this community of changemakers. Our seniors aren't just attendees — they are advocates, leaders, and voices for older adults across DC.
