Before coming to Calvary Womenâs Services, Trinity was living in her car while navigating years of trauma, chronic health challenges, and housing instability. Today, she is rebuilding her life, working full-time, preparing to complete her degree, and planning for her future.
Her story is a powerful reminder that when women have access to housing, trauma-informed therapy, and a supportive community, healing becomes possible.
âCalvary has given me a new foundation. Iâve solidified myself and I can stand up now where before I was just stumbling.â

As homelessness continues to rise across DC, access to mental health support for women rebuilding after trauma, domestic violence, and crisis is more important than ever.
At Calvary Womenâs Services, women have access to free, onsite, trauma-informed mental health services that allow them process trauma, rebuild confidence, and move forward with stability and support.
This Womenâs Health Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, we are rehighlighting the work and insight of Dr. Aleata Dawkins, one of Calvaryâs therapists, whose approach to healing centers compassion, safety, trust, and empowerment.
Healing after trauma is not linear and for many women, simply having a safe space to speak openly without judgment can be life-changing.
Mental health support is not an âextra.â It is essential to helping women rebuild their lives after homelessness and violence.
A gift of $150 can help provide one woman with access to trauma-informed mental health services at Calvary. Donate here: bit.ly/donatecwsdc
Every woman deserves the opportunity to heal, feel safe, and begin again.

There are two types of summer events: The ones you forget about immediatelyâŚand the ones you leave genuinely glad you attended.
Our Summer Social will be the second kind!
Join us on June 30 at one of DC's most iconic outdoor spaces, Dacha Beer Garden in Navy Yard. This amazing summer happy hour will bring together supporters, volunteers, and new friends of Calvary Womenâs Services.
Tickets are $45. Each ticket includes one complimentary drink and small bites throughout the evening. This event is part of Dachaâs Cause Tuesday, meaning your evening directly supports Calvary's life-changing housing, employment, education, and health services.
We also have a special discounted ticket option for Calvary volunteers! Volunteers can reach out to Sarah at [email protected] to receive the discount code.

We are honored to receive the first-ever Enduring Partnership Award from Negotiation Works as they celebrate 10 years of impact!
Katie Gregson, Calvaryâs Manager of Education and Programs, shared:
"We are honored to partner with Negotiation Works and are thankful for the relationship we've built together over the years. Their classes give our residents valuable negotiation and self-advocacy skills that help them communicate more effectively and confidently in all circumstances, from family conflict to working with case managers and housing providers. We're looking forward to continuing this meaningful work together in the years ahead!"
Thank you, Negotiation Works, for your continued commitment to supporting women through education, stability, and opportunity!

Over the past few weeks, our CEO, Kris Thompson, has joined advocates, providers, and community leaders across DC to speak out against the proposed budget cuts that threaten housing and other critical services for women in our city.
For years, Calvary Women's Services has actively been part of the network of organizations and providers that ensure survivors of domestic violence and all women are safely housed, have the tools to heal, and move forward after experiencing violence.
She shared this powerful quote during her testimony at the Office of Victim Services.
While recent data shows an overall decrease in homelessness in DC, homelessness among women has nearly doubled. This is a critical moment for our community to stay engaged and informed.
We urge you to continue supporting our work. Your donations significantly support survivors and end women's homelessness: bit.ly/donatecwsdc

DC showed UP đ
Because of this incredible community, Calvary Womenâs Services raised more than $1,600 during Give Greater DC, surpassing our $1,000 goal to support women rebuilding their lives after homelessness.
There was something especially meaningful about participating in Give Greater DC alongside organizations and people across the city who are committed to creating impact in our communities. While every day at Calvary is about showing up for women, it felt powerful to pause and celebrate what collective generosity across DC can look like.
Every gift, every share, every repost, every conversation mattered.
Thank you for helping women access housing, mental health support, employment services, and stability when they need it most.
Special thank you to Spur Local for creating a space that celebrates community, generosity, and local impact across DC.

Give Greater DC is almost over, but there is still time to make a meaningful impact for women rebuilding their lives at Calvary Womenâs Services.
One Calvary resident shared, âCalvary has given me a new foundation. Iâve been able to solidify myself and stand up now, where before I was just stumbling. It helped me plant my feet and project myself.â
Your support today can make this reality possible for hundreds of women.
As we enter the final hours of Give Greater DC, every gift empowers more women to move from surviving to thriving. Donate now: https://www.givegreaterdc.org/o/calvary

We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and MGAC for continuing to stand with women, decade after decade. Their investments have helped strengthen our programs, expand opportunities, and remind women in our community that there are people who believe deeply in their futures.
At the Hope Gala this year, it was meaningful to celebrate not just a single event, but a partnership that has remained committed to empowering women to end their homelessness.
Thank you, MGAC, for helping make brighter futures possible for women in DC.
For nearly three decades, MGAC has proudly supported Calvary Women's Services, a partnership rooted in a shared commitment to empowering women across Washington, DC. This yearâs Hope Gala was an inspiring evening bringing together leaders, partners, and advocates to celebrate the women whose lives have been transformed through Calvaryâs programs while raising critical support to expand that impact.
MGAC is grateful to be part of this important work and to continue supporting Calvaryâs mission to help women experiencing homelessness build stable, independent futures.
