TODAY: As the Board of Trustees prepared to vote on tuition hikes, over 30 students gathered outside the meeting to demand an end to the status quo of exploitation and educational injustice. We demanded that the board for once put students over profit and freeze tuition. Although the board has tightened security and relinquished responsibility for holding town halls in a deliberate effort to avoid facing students, we made sure that our voices, and the voices of the 86% of AU students who oppose tuition hikes, were heard.

Today, members of END delivered over 60 handwritten letters from AU students to President Kerwin. Kerwin will be delivering the new university budget, including a proposed tuition increase, to the Board of Trustees this week. We urge Kerwin to take advantage of this opportunity to stand with students by recommending that the board freeze tuition, so that he can leave AU with a legacy of justice and accountability.

Today: The University Budget Committee continues to meet and students remind them of their demand. The cost of tuition is already exceedingly high, any increase would be detrimental to students. Higher tuition would prioritize the marketability of the school over our educational experience and student wellbeing.
