"It is terrible and shameful for New York to try to eliminate all choice, so that everyone must go to a healthcare provider who would offer su***de as an option. Catholic healthcare should be free to serve patients who want a life-affirming alternative."

In a homily for healthcare professionals, Bishop Barres explains why the Diocese of Rockville Centre joined Becket’s lawsuit challenging New York’s assisted su***de law. Read more ⬇

Colorado’s Catholics-need-not-apply rule has forced more than 1,500 families to pay thousands out of pocket for Catholic preschool. In The Wall Street Journal, Becket client Lisa Sheley shares why her family is fighting for fairness and why the Supreme Court must ensure families aren’t denied public benefits because of their faith.

Read Lisa’s story ahead of the Nov. 3 Supreme Court argument in St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy.

For three years, my family has been wrongfully denied tuition-free school. Soon, the Supreme Court will hear our case.

The spooky season is here, and the ACLU is necromancing the spirit of dead precedent to try to purge religious imagery from Indiana’s public square. Becket is helping Governor Mike Braun defend Indiana’s right to re-establish a Ten Commandments monument on the statehouse lawn.

“Universal” preschool should mean all families can choose the school that’s right for their children. But Colorado has denied Catholic families access to preschool funding because of their schools’ religious beliefs.

Now, parents and Catholic schools are asking the Supreme Court to step in. On November 3, the Court will hear St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy and decide whether Colorado can exclude religious schools from its supposedly universal preschool program.

Priests should never have to choose between upholding their sacred vows and facing jail time. In 2025, Washington passed a law requiring Catholic priests to report suspected abuse or neglect disclosed in confession, despite the Church’s 2,000-year-old teaching that confession is sacred and must remain confidential.

Becket defended the priests in court, and one year ago today, Washington agreed to not force them to violate the sacred seal of confession. Learn more: https://becketfund.org/case/etienne-v-ferguson/

Brian and Jill Hall have sacrificed a lot to give their children a Catholic education. When Colorado launched its UPK program, they were excited to send their preschooler to St. Mary, a school already woven into their community. But the state’s rules prevented them from using UPK funding there because of the school’s religious beliefs.

Now, the fight for fair access to preschool funding is headed to the Supreme Court. On November 3, the Court will hear St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy. Watch the full video: https://youtu.be/sxMxiqqGJyI

Colorado's preschool program lets schools discriminate by sexual identity or race — but not by faith.

"The director of the program said it would be fine if a... preschool served only LGBTQ parents, transgender kids, or even only served one particular race," explains Becket's Nick Reaves. "But at the same time, she said Catholic schools could not ask the families who enroll to share their Catholic faith..."

Now Colorado's policy is being taken to court.

Three years ago today, Becket helped secure a landmark settlement after a 15-year fight to restore a Native American sacred site that the federal government bulldozed for a highway turn lane. The Department of Transportation agreed to replant trees, allow tribal members to rebuild a centuries-old stone altar, and recognize historic Native American use of the site.

Native sacred sites deserve the same legal protection as other sacred places, whether they have four walls and a steeple or not. Learn more: https://becketfund.org/case/slockish/
