* Tornado Warning for...
Central Warren County in northwestern Virginia...
Northeastern Rappahannock County in northwestern Virginia...
West central Fauquier County in northern Virginia...

* Until 500 PM EDT.

* At 429 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Front Royal, moving southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown,
flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur.
Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is
likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
Hume around 435 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Karo,
Glen Echo, Huntly, Arco, Riverton, Hackleys Crossroads, Flint Hill,
Cresthill, Chester Gap, and Orlean.
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

Rappahannock County is moving ahead with two new iniatives aimed at one of its biggest challenges: providing emergency and preventive healthcare in a rural county with an aging spread-out population and few medical services.

Poor air quality can be expected today due to smoke originating from Canadian wildfires. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible in the Allegheny Highlands and central Shenandoah Valley. Multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday into Saturday evening. The front will push south of the area on Sunday, resulting in cooler conditions.

Last week we welcomed several special guests to our EMT Advanced course so our students could practice pediatric assessments on children of all ages.

Thank you to the kids, parents (and grandparents), and the extra providers that gave their time to make this a worthwhile experience for our students.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Front Royal, Woodstock, Luray, Stanley, Sperryville, Linden, Hume,
Chester Gap, Maurertown, Flint Hill, Washington, Castleton, Huntly,
Kings Crossing, Seven Fountains, Ida, Riverton, Hackleys
Crossroads, Hamburg, and Amissville.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Sperryville, or 11 miles southwest of Front Royal, moving east at
20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as

Additional Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories have been issued for Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Air temps will range from the upper 90s to low 100s with heat indices between 102-110 degrees. Plan accordingly.

Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take plenty of breaks.
