Supporting Our Community, One Bag at a Time!

Today, members of our department traded in police work for grocery bags and joined our local ShopRite to help bag groceries in support of donations to local food banks.

We’re always grateful for opportunities like this to connect with the people we serve while supporting a great cause. A big thank you to ShopRite, its employees, and everyone in our community who donated and helped make a difference for local families in need.

Community policing is about more than answering calls. It’s about showing up, lending a hand, and taking care of our neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated, and said hello!

WTPD would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Maverick’s Legacy for their very generous donation of (12) LifeVac Choking Rescue Kits to the Washington Township Police Department.

The donation provides enough kits to equip every patrol vehicle in our fleet, allowing officers to have this potentially lifesaving equipment readily available in the event of a choking emergency.

Maverick’s Legacy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Kimberly and Darrin Chambers in memory of their son, Maverick, who tragically lost his life in a choking accident at nearly five months old. Through their organization, the Chambers have worked to provide choking rescue devices to families, businesses, and emergency responders in an effort to help prevent other families from experiencing a similar tragedy.

WTPD is grateful for Maverick’s Legacy’s generosity and commitment to helping protect members of our community.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent people who never made it home that day. We honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, members of our military, and countless others who answered the call to help, many without hesitation and without regard for their own safety.

We also remember those whose sacrifices did not end on September 11. Thousands of first responders, recovery workers, survivors, and others exposed in the aftermath continue to battle serious illnesses linked to their service and exposure. We recognize those who have since lost their lives and those who continue that fight today.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their names, their families, their courage, and their sacrifice.

We will never forget.
