🇺🇸 Have a wonderful Columbus Day!

Washington City offices will be closed Monday, October 12th, in observance of the holiday.

Columbus Day is a federal holiday commemorating Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas in 1492. While celebrations date back to the 18th century, it became a federal holiday in 1937.

Although the federal holiday is officially recognized as Columbus Day, many communities also observe Indigenous Peoples' Day, honoring the history, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.

In Utah, Indigenous People Day is officially recognized on the Monday immediately preceding Thanksgiving, which falls on November 23rd this year, as outlined in Utah Code § 63G-1-401.

If you need assistance during the closure, please call our after-hours number at (435) 656-6300 and follow the prompts to reach on-call personnel.

Mark your calendar for Washington City's Annual Veterans Day Celebration. Join Washington City leadership and staff as we honor veterans, past and present, who enlisted to preserve our rights and freedoms.

The day starts with an iconic parade down Telegraph Street at 11:00 a.m. followed by a patriotic program of music and words in Veterans Park. Take a stroll through the Field of Flags, and pay tribute to all who served and continue to serve today.

This event is free and open to the public, countywide.
