Vaccines are one of the most important tools we have to prevent serious illness from respiratory viruses.
Vaccination can help protect you and the people around you, including infants, older adults, and people at higher risk for severe illness.
Getting vaccinated in October is the best way to build immunity before flu, COVID-19, and RSV peak during the winter months.

🎒 An emergency kit isn't one-size-fits-all.

Start with the basics, then think about what you and the people (and pets!) in your household would actually need in an emergency.

The Connecticut DPH Preparedness Guide has tips to help you build a kit that works for you.

And yes, you should probably check the batteries while you're at it. 🔦

🎉 Many thanks to Enterprise Apartments for hosting our staff for a presentation for residents about the WHD Healthy Brain Initiative!

Our Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Sheena Pinnock and OD2A Outreach Worker Wendy Abreu discussed the ten healthy brain habits that participants can start or improve in their daily lives to help reduce or slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. They also emphasized the importance of having a family emergency plan in place to reduce stress and anxiety during an actual emergency or disaster, and even gave participants survival backpack “starter kits” to build their own personalized emergency-go-bags.

Any Assisted Living Facility located in that is interested in hosting a presentation can contact Sheena at [email protected].

Los niños pueden atrasarse en sus vacunas por muchas razones, como el cierre del consultorio de su médico. En el Departamento de Salud de Waterbury, las familias pueden conseguir citas rápidamente para las vacunas requeridas por la escuela.
