November’s Moral Focus is Gratitude!

Gratitude means recognizing the good in our lives and showing appreciation for the people who make a difference. It means being thankful, noticing the kindness of others, expressing appreciation, and never taking someone’s time, help, or sacrifices for granted.

Just in time for Veterans Day, Oakside Prep Academy is putting gratitude into action through Project Gratitude! Our Eagles will write heartfelt thank-you letters to America’s military heroes to recognize their service and sacrifices and remind them that they are appreciated.

We’re excited to help our students turn an important lesson into a meaningful act of kindness. Sometimes, a simple thank-you can mean so much!

October’s Moral Focus was Respect!

At Oakside Prep Academy, respect means treating others with kindness, listening when others speak, valuing different perspectives, taking care of our school, and making choices that show consideration for the people around us.

Our Eagles learned that respect is more than good manners. It’s how we treat others, even when we disagree, and how we help make our school a welcoming place for everyone.

When we show respect, we help build a stronger Oakside community! Great job Eagles!

College prep at Oakside isn’t something we talk about senior year—it starts early and builds every year. Beginning in 10th grade, students can earn both high school and college credits through dual enrollment and Early Middle College partnerships with Rochester University and Oakland Tech. Add in SAT prep, college counseling, and campus visits, and our students aren’t just applying to college—they’re already succeeding in it. Many graduate with credits already completed, giving them a true head start.

From driveline and drop-off to hallway monitoring, lunch, arrival, dismissal and throughout the school day, our Deans and support staff are visible and actively helping keep our students safe and supported.

Our yellow-vested team is there to provide security, support and leadership when students and families need it most.

Our Hispanic Heritage celebrations brought culture, tradition, music, and plenty of joy to Oakside!

Our students took part in our Family Fiesta Night, Hispanic Heritage Spirit week, assemblies, and our Quinceañera parade.

Moments like these give our students the opportunity to experience and celebrate traditions while learning more about the cultures that make our community so special.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Hispanic Heritage celebrations such a memorable part of the school year!

Safety Is a Priority at Oakside

At Oakside Prep Academy, we take the safety, security and well-being of our students and staff very seriously. Safety is built into our daily routines, our building procedures and the way we care for one another.

Throughout the school day:
• Cameras monitor our hallways and classrooms.
• Entry doors, vestibules and office doors remain locked from 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
• Doors leading from the office into the school areas remain secured.
• Safety teams are in place throughout the day, including hallway monitoring and coverage during arrival and dismissal.
• Our yellow-vested team members are visible throughout the building and in our drive-up and drop-off areas.

We also believe safety goes beyond locked doors and security measures. Oakside does not tolerate bullying or altercations. We work every day to create an environment where students feel respected, supported and safe.

Our Moral Focus virtues—including self-control, respect, wisdom, compassion and integrity—help guide how we treat one another and how we respond to challenges.

At Oakside, safety is everyone’s responsibility, and it is something we take seriously every day.
