Earlier in October the Waterford Police Department and Waterford Fire Department played in the annual softball game. The PD came out on top in the rivalry game but a great time was had by all. Off. Zaldivar can be seen holding the trophy which will remain at the PD for another year. We want to thank Waterford Recreation & Parks for getting the field in tip top shape!

You may have noticed members of the Shoreline Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) training at the former Crystal Mall property yesterday.

START is a regional team comprised of officers from the Waterford, Montville, and East Lyme Police Departments. The team is called upon when serious-injury or fatal motor vehicle crashes occur.

Their job is to thoroughly document crash scenes, including vehicle positions, skid marks, debris, road conditions, and vehicle damage. Like every other aspect of police work, it’s important that our team regularly trains together and stays proficient with its equipment so that, when a call comes in, we can hit the ground running.

Many thanks to Electric Boat for allowing us to use their parking lot for this important training!

🚨 K9 Neo Needs Our Help! 🚨 Meet Neo, a 10-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix who proudly served the Waterford Police Department from 2017–2023. Certified in patrol and narcotics through NAPWDA, Neo had an incredible career - including locating missing and endangered juveniles and adults as well as helping recover over $20,000 from a bank robbery suspect.

Since retiring, Neo has been living his best life - long walks, car rides with mom and dad, dropping off his little sister at school, and endless games of fetch (his favorite thing in the world). He’s also perfected stealing cheese sticks and claiming his spot on the couch.

In August, we noticed something wasn’t right. Neo was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and during surgery, it was discovered the cancer had already spread to his abdomen. He has since been diagnosed with a rare metastatic seminoma. After consulting with an Oncologist, we learned that without treatment, this cancer can spread quickly, so chemotherapy has been recommended as the best course of action.

We truly believe Neo has more life to live. After everything he’s given in service and to our family, we’re doing everything we can to give him that chance - so he can keep chasing his ball and enjoying the retirement he deserves.

If you’re able to support Neo’s fight, whether through a donation, sharing his story, or keeping him in your thoughts, it truly means the world to our family 💙🖤 https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/k9-neo-needs-our-help

It's (Almost) Done!

The front parking lot and sidewalk are back open. Just waiting for line striping and the installation of the handicapped parking signs.

This project consisted of regrading the front lot, leveling space for new handicapped parking spots, improving accessibility by replacing the damaged sidewalks and installing handrails, and upgrading the exterior lighting.

Thank you to our residents and staff for your patience and adaptability while this project was underway.
