🔥 It’s Fire Prevention Week!

This is a great yearly reminder to check your smoke alarms and replace batteries if needed. Take a few minutes with your family to review your emergency escape plan, know two ways out, and choose a safe meeting spot outside.

⚡ This year’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety,” is also a reminder to use the correct chargers for your devices, check cords for damage, and never charge phones or other devices on beds, couches, or other soft surfaces.

A little preparation now can make a BIG difference in an emergency. 🚒❤️

Last night’s training covered vehicle extrication followed by a controlled vehicle fire, giving members some hands-on practice with vehicle fire suppression 🔥

Another big thank you to the Skinner family! They stopped by tonight with leftovers from yesterday’s benefit, along with a very generous donation. We truly appreciate their kindness and generosity!

🔥 A Special Thank You 🔥

Back in April, Border City Fire District responded alongside several mutual aid agencies to a devastating house fire that left the Skinner family with the loss of nearly everything, including their beloved pet.

Today, the Skinner family hosted a special event at the Waterloo VFW to thank the first responders and community who supported them through such a difficult time. We were honored to attend, enjoy a great lunch, and spend time with the family under much better circumstances.

To the Skinner family, thank you for your incredibly kind words and for thinking of all of us while you continue to rebuild your own lives. We wish you nothing but the best moving forward, and please know that we are always here if you need us.

Thank you to everyone in the Border City Fire District who came out and voted last night!

The purchase of our new Pumper Rescue was approved. This new apparatus will replace two aging trucks, help reduce ongoing repair costs, and allow us to continue serving our community safely and reliably, all without raising taxes!

We truly appreciate the continued support of our community!
