We love to see libraries and local artists working together! Recently, Connie Noftsier Studio shared her newest project "Deep Waters: the Great Lakes in Fiber" at Croghan Free Library, including an exhibit of the pieces and presentation of her research, with the project funded by a grant from SLC Arts. So many cool collaborations and beautiful work happening in our communities! 🪡🖼️🤝❤️

A day you get to spend with library people is a good day--NCLS Annual Meeting today, with library staff and trustees, NCLS staff and trustees, and special guests! It included education, networking, and recognition for the hard work all of these people invest in their communities. (Today is reverse Halloween, so obviously we had some costumes!)

Given the weather and the six weeks of school that have passed, summer might feel far in the past... but libraries are just finishing up evaluating and reporting their summer reading programs! It was a busy season in the North Country--and this is just a glimpse--enjoy this peek into Summer Reading 2026!

Kids: 46 locations, 3,211 registered, 969 programs, 20,552 attendance
Teens: 46 locations, 555 registered, 185 programs, 2,070 attendance
Adults: 27 locations, 1,097 registered
Take and Make Kits: 29 locations, 5,799 handed out

Our Book Sale and Maker Market was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday for books and to support local vendors!

We still have lots of children's books left over, so we are opening our third bay up for a BOOK GIVE AWAY!

Come see us Monday, October 5th from 9-12 at the service center for FREE children's books!

Visit our book sale and maker market on Saturday, Oct. 3, 9 am-3 pm at the NCLS Service Center. All book sale proceeds support the NCLS Care Kits Project.
