Kindness is Blooming at Flower Memorial Library! I’m so excited to share that The Kindness in Bloom Project is bringing a second permanent Bloom Station to the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library!

If you’ve never seen a Bloom Station before, it’s a little space filled with handwritten cards, notes of encouragement, kindness and hope. Anyone can take a card when they need one, or leave a card for someone else who might need a little kindness that day. Our first permanent Bloom Station was installed at the Dexter Library, and now we're bringing one to Watertown.

To celebrate, we’re having a card-writing event on Saturday, November 14 from 11 AM–1 PM in the South Reading Room. I’ll bring all the supplies, and everyone is welcome to stop in, write a card, doodle, or simply add a little encouragement to the station.

Come help me fill it with messages that might mean more to someone than we’ll ever know.

Don’t mind what I look like. I literally rolled out of bed, grabbed my chalk, and headed to the Square before everyone started their day. Just leaving a little happiness around town this morning.

Also, little update from the video..I mentioned the plant donations I came across and said I didn’t know who they were from. I do now! They’re from Cindy Tyler . Thank you, Cindy!

Sometimes I see someone online going through a hard time, see something in the news, someone reaches out to me, or I just get a feeling about someone and I make them a Bloom Basket. I don’t usually share many because they’re often really personal, but donated items help me make them extra special.

Silently Pampered donated a head spa gift certificate for one I’m putting together now, and I’m so grateful. ❤️ Below is just a small glimpse of a couple I’ve made in the past.

Someone reached out to me about a local kiddo, Benny, who is currently at Golisano Children’s Hospital, and asked if Kindness in Bloom could send a little love his way. So today, I dropped off a basket filled with handwritten community cards from different Kindness in Bloom events, a few little extras to make him smile, and even a couple cards from Emma and Ellie in Florida. And of course, Benny got a plant too. Meet Double Trouble ..two plants in one pot with twice the backup when you need it. Sending lots of love to Benny and his family.

This is exactly why our card-writing events matter. ❤️ Most of the cards we make eventually go into Bloom Stations for someone to find when they need a little encouragement. But sometimes they get handpicked for one specific person who could really use them. Today, they’re going to a little girl in the hospital. This is the third Bloom Basket the project has made for a child in the hospital, and it matters every single time.

Some of these cards were written months ago. Some were written by other kids. They had no idea who would receive them, but somehow there are “I love you,” “get well soon,” little drawings, and reminders that fit exactly where they’re going. I added a journal, stickers, a bracelet, a fidget for restless hands, and a few little extras just to make her smile. And then there’s Rocket. 🪴 He saw the basket and said, “Wait for me! I’m really good at cheering people up!” This little girl is about to be absolutely showered with love from our community,

128 plants have officially been adopted through The Kindness in Bloom Project!!! Yesterday’s Su***de Prevention Walk brought us to that number, and people LOVED the plants.

The names and little talents had people laughing, comparing, picking favorites..and I even left some unnamed so the kids at the event could name some to send out into the world.

I’m so grateful to be a part of moments like this, and even more grateful for this community.

Help me finish the Plant Adoption Center for the Su***de Prevention Walk!!

I’ve been naming each plant and giving it a little “special talent,” but this time I don’t want all of those words to come from me. I want them to come from us. I’ll post the plants that still need names in the comments. Pick one, reply directly underneath it, and give it a name + a special talent...something funny, hopeful, comforting, or simply something you think another person might need to hear.

I’ll make the tags from your ideas, and every one of these plants will be given away at the walk. So when someone chooses a plant that day, they won’t just be taking home something I made. They’ll be taking home a little piece of encouragement our community made together. ♥️
