The Watervliet Police Department is teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to help keep our community safe and healthy, and we’d love to see you there!

Clean out your medicine cabinet and bring your unused or expired medications to us for safe, free, no questions asked disposal. Every pill dropped off helps prevent prescription drug misuse, keeps medications out of the wrong hands, and protects our water supply.

"Man Arrested After Leaving Scene of Crash into Watervliet Home"

The annual Mohawk-Hudson River Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 11th, 2026. The race route will enter the City of Watervliet from Maplewood along Route 32 and continue south, crossing several intersections throughout the city.

Road closures along the race route will begin at 8:00 a.m., and the event is expected to conclude by approximately 1:00 p.m.

* Parking Restrictions *

Temporary No Parking zones will be in effect on the following streets:

24th Street between 2nd Avenue and Broadway

2nd Avenue from 25th Street to 24th Street

21st Street from Whitehall Street to Broadway

* Traffic Impacts & Detours *
If traveling in or through the following intersections, please plan for delays and detours during the race. Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control.

2nd Ave. (Rt. 32) @ 25th St.

Broadway @ 25th St.

Broadway @ 24th St.

Broadway @ 23rd St.

Broadway @ 21st St.

Broadway @ 16th St.

23rd St. @ 2nd Ave.

23rd St. @ I-787 North and South on/off ramps (Exit 8)

Detour Information:

All traffic exiting I-787 off-ramps will be diverted into Green Island during the event.

All traffic entering I-787 will be rerouted through Maplewood via Rt. 32 to Tibbits Ave (Green Island).
