Wauconda Fire District responds to roughly 4,300 calls a year, and serves a community of approximately 40,000 people. The Mission of the Wauconda Fire District is to Faithfully Serve our Community through Emergency Response, Education, Prevention, and Social Interaction.

On June 16, 2026, Station 1 sustained damage to the exterior and interior when a vehicle crashed into the building. We’re happy to share that the Lieutenant's office has been fully repaired and is back in service! As an added safety measure, bollards have also been installed in front of the station to help protect our building and personnel.

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the Wauconda Fire District!

Today, four new part-time firefighters and one full-time firefighter officially began their two week, in-house orientation program. They are pictured below taking the oath of office from Fire Chief Hanselman.

Over the next two weeks, these members will become familiar with our apparatus, equipment, operations, and department procedures as they prepare to join their assigned shifts and serve our community.

We are excited to have them on board and look forward to seeing them grow as members of our team.

On Thursday, October 1, North Barrington Elementary School organized a special parade for 8-year-old Madison, who was diagnosed with leukemia three months ago. Madison’s mom extended the invitation and was incredibly grateful that our crew could be there to give her the full VIP treatment and help make the day extra special for their little hero!

We were honored to be a part of such a meaningful day and to help show Madison just how much her community is cheering her on! 🎗️🚒

🐾 Wauconda High School Homecoming Parade is tomorrow! Come out and support our Bulldogs!

🚧 There will be some road closures beginning around 4:45pm - Slocum Lake, Main Street, Osage, and Minerva

Please plan accordingly, allow extra time, and use caution around the parade route.
