👨‍🚀 Mission Moon 🌕

Our 5th graders got to complete an amazing STEM experience called Mission Moon. Students were assigned a career related to the mission, watched a video in the Star Lab Planetarium, scouted a landing site and gathered data with drones, built a rover to collect regolith, built a habitat, and searched for water and ice using a scanner they built with micro:bit computers.

It was an incredible opportunity for our students made possible through collaboration with Apple, ISU Extension, and NASA’s Space Grant Consortium.

🐛 Proud “Parents” 🦋

Our 3rd graders have been working hard caring for and learning about monarch butterflies! They watched as the eggs hatched, supplied plenty of milkweed as the very hungry caterpillars devoured it, and waited patiently through the chrysalis stage to reveal these beautiful butterflies. Here are photos of Mrs. Fenske’s class as they released some of them yesterday to began their migratory journey south.

On this National Custodian's Day we are happy to announce we have a new daytime custodian, Greg. Greg has previously worked as a flex custodian across the district, filling in wherever he was needed, but he is happy to stay at Waukee Elementary and says he feels "at home" here. WE appreciate Greg!
