It's a Miss Marple marathon!

We're partnering with Groundlings Theater to give away 3 pairs of tickets to their upcoming World Premiere Wisconsin staged reading of Murder at the Vicarage! Who killed the nasty, domineering Colonel Protheroe? As Miss Marple and Vicar Leonard Clement investigate, secrets unfold and the suspect list piles up in this new adaptation of Agatha Christie's first Miss Marple novel.

Enter the raffle in the library lobby now until October 27th to win a pair of tickets to a showing of your choice. Murder at the Vicarage runs October 29th - November 1st at Peace Lutheran Church in Waunakee.

Follow up Murder at the Vicarage with the second book in the Miss Marple series, The Body in the Library! Our Books in the Overlook book club will be discussing the book at the library on Tuesday, November 17th at 6:30pm.

Libby, the app to access Wisconsin’s Digital Library for ebooks and audiobooks, just launched controls to allow users to filter out AI content!

First, is there AI content in Wisconsin’s Digital Library?

Right now, there may be a few AI assisted items in our collection, like an audiobook using a digital voice. Staff tools have recently been added to the marketplace to assist librarians in recognizing AI content when selecting titles for our collection. Additionally, Wisconsin Public Library Consortium’s Digital Library Steering Committee is working on incorporating an Ethical Purchasing Policy statement to address AI.

Here's how you can filter out AI content in Libby:
- Open Libby
- At the bottom of the screen, choose the circle for your account.
- Under Settings, choose Content Controls.
- Choose AI Contributions. (If you don’t see the AI Contributions option, make sure your app is updated to the latest version)
- Choose "Human only" for Text, Audio, Graphics and/or Translation depending on your preferences.
- Turn off "Where to apply filters/Deep search only."
- Done!

Also new in Libby:
- Each title will display AI content disclosures (provided by publishers).
- Readers can report content you're concerned is unlabeled AI.

New StoryWalk!

A ghost is having a very bad day. He feels like he hates EVERYTHING! Lucky for him, he has a good ghost friend to talk it through with. Because if he doesn’t really hate sweets or flowers or dressing up, and he definitely doesn’t hate his friend, then maybe he doesn’t hate everything after all…

I HATE EVERYTHING!

Heads up! Libby now requires your library card PIN to access ebooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines. This will be the same PIN you use to log into LINKcat and your library account.

Don't remember your PIN?

By default, your PIN is set to the month and day of your birthday (MMDD).

If that doesn't work, you can hit "Forgot my password/PIN" on the LINKcat login window. Enter your library card number and a link will be emailed to the email address for your account.

If you don't receive the recovery email, call the library or stop in and we can help you reset your PIN!

October's featured artist is Archana Jayavel! You can see Archana's colorful paintings and resin pieces in the upstairs Tech Hub Hallway now through the end of the month!

"I am a self-taught artist based in Madison, Wisconsin, working primarily with acrylic pouring techniques, textured art, and resin art under the studio name Serene Spill Creations. My journey with art began in childhood, when painting sparked joy and curiosity. As life grew busier, I drifted away from it - until a special birthday gift brought me back. On my birthday this year, my husband and son surprised me with a session at a fluid art studio. Watching the colors flow freely across the canvas, spilling and blending through my fingers, I felt something awaken inside me. In that moment, I rediscovered the love I had for creating - and I have not stopped painting since."
