The Village of Kronenwetter is partnering with the Marathon County Clerk’s Office to ensure the continued, secure issuance of absentee ballots for Village residents while the search for a new Village Clerk is ongoing. This clarification is being issued in response to questions from residents regarding the validity of absentee ballots mailed during the clerk vacancy.

Village of Kronenwetter residents who have already received an absentee ballot in the mail should be assured that their ballot is valid. Absentee ballots remain valid because they are issued and processed through standard, statutory procedures that do not change due to staffing transitions at the municipal level.

“I’m pleased to share that absentee ballots for Village of Kronenwetter residents that had an absentee ballot request on file were mailed on September 17, in accordance with the statutory deadline,” shared Marathon County Clerk Kim Trueblood. “We understand that residents may have questions due to the Village Clerk vacancy, and I want to reassure voters that their ballots remain fully valid. This inter-governmental collaboration underscores our shared commitment to protecting election integrity and ensuring that Village residents have uninterrupted access to safe and reliable voting options.”

All ballots issued through this partnership are produced and processed in accordance with applicable election laws and established security procedures. Voters are encouraged to carefully follow the instructions included with their ballot and return it by the required deadline.

“We are very appreciative of the assistance provided by Clerk Trueblood’s staff,” shared Village of Kronenwetter Administrator James Davel. “While the recruitment for a Village Clerk is ongoing, our team is working with the County Clerk’s Office to ensure all necessary training and preparations are complete for the November 3rd election.”

Village of Kronenwetter residents with questions regarding their absentee ballot or the voting process may contact the Marathon County Clerk’s Office at 715-261-1500.
