🚨 URGENT PUBLIC SAFETY WARNING: DO NOT BURN DEBRIS THIS WEEKEND! 🚨

Washington County Fire Department is urging all residents to STOP and HOLD OFF on burning debris this weekend due to the forecasted wind advisory, with winds expected to reach up to 40 MPH.

⚠️ These are dangerous conditions for outdoor burning. Strong winds can quickly carry sparks and embers into nearby woods, fields, and structures, causing fires to spread rapidly and putting lives, homes, and property at serious risk.

PLEASE UTILIZE THE DEBRIS PICKUP SERVICES INSTEAD. Follow our Emergency Management, Washington County, Florida for updates on debris pickup.

📍 State Road debris pickup is scheduled for today. Additional schedules for debris pickup throughout the county will be announced as they become available.

We understand the urgency of clearing hurricane debris, but burning under these conditions can turn a manageable situation into a dangerous emergency in a matter of minutes. Please do not take that risk.

🚒 Help us protect our community, our homes, and our firefighters. DO NOT BURN DEBRIS THIS WEEKEND.

For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Keep debris away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, utility poles, sidewalks, and drainage ditches.

Keep household garbage separate from storm debris.

Residents in gated communities: Please leave gates unlocked or open to allow debris collection crews access to the community.

🚫 Do not block roadways or access needed by emergency vehicles. Do not place debris on private property or mix household garbage or hazardous materials with storm debris.

🚒🔥 October is Fire Prevention Month! What better way to celebrate than spending the morning with our little friends at Imagination Station!

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to spend time with our newest Junior Firefighters, teaching them about fire safety, what to do in an emergency, and reminding them that firefighters are always here to help. ❤️

Building relationships with children at a young age is so important. By helping them feel comfortable around firefighters and teaching them how to respond in an emergency, we can build trust and give them the confidence to know what to do when it matters most.

A big thank you to Imagination Station for welcoming us! We loved spending the morning with our little friends and helping them learn how to stay safe. 🧑‍🚒🚒

Remember: Fire safety starts with education, and it's never too early to learn! 🔥
