This week's is for our younger patrons (and their grown ups, too). Abby, take it away!

"If you're a millenial parent like me, you might have found yourself coaching your kid through a friendship or school situation and thought, "Man, this would be *so* much easier to explain if I could just show you the classic 2004 film and !" Bestie, we've all been there.

, author of the beautiful, must-read adult memoir "Know My Name" and 2025 Newbery honor book "Magnolia Wu Unfolds It All" (also a must-read for kids who love heartfelt books that are also charming, sweet, and silly) crafted a middle grade "Mean Girls" novel with the gorgeous style she has swiftly become known for. If this doesn't win the Newbery medal this year, I'll eat all the lost socks at the Wu family's laundromat!!"

We are delighted to debut our Sensory Space! Retrofitted into an alcove, this is our best current opportunity to offer a quiet zone in the Children's Library for kids who require additional sensory support. We have noise-canceling earmuffs available at the Children's desk -- just ask if your child needs a pair while using the Library or regulating in this cozy space.
Please note: This is a quiet zone -- it's not an auxiliary play space for the Early Learning Play Area. Please be conscientious of our Library friends who need this additional support and treat the Sensory Space with the care and consideration it needs. Thanks! 💖

This week's post comes from our shelver Ryan! Ryan's here with a review of Yoko Ogawa's "The Memory Police." Ryan, take it away.

"There is an ordinary island with ordinary people leading ordinary lives, and on some ordinary mornings when they wake they find they have forgotten something.

This is a book I wish I read in a book club- just so I could talk to someone about it. I went in pretty blind and I think you all should too, but what I will say is if you are fans of the surreal presented in a very matter of fact and mundane way, this might be right up your alley! Dystopia and sci-fi (and/or speculative fiction) in the way of Franz Kafka, Emily St. John Mandel, and Octavia Butler, to narrow down the style and mood you might expect. Somewhat suspenseful, definitely dystopian, officially speculative fiction, short but with a lot to sink your teeth into. I'm still thinking about it a few months later as I write this recommendation. Happy reading!"

We're using this week's to say goodbye to our awesome shelver Conor who is on to new adventures. Conor, thank you for always being so positive, cheerful, and suggesting great books like this one.

"Are you a nerd who loves big fat fantasy books with maps? Do you hate when books make sense right away ang get to the point with modern pacing? The let me introduce to you the wonderful world of Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson - Author. This series has everything you could want in an epic fantasy; armies marching across continents, assassin wars on the rooftops, grizzled veterans bantering around the fire, brooding immortals with silver hair and magic swords, wizards, sorcerers, warlocks, dragons, pantheons of vengeful gods, magical mysteries, and dozens of characters with their own stories to fall in love with. These books will make you laugh, they will make you cry, and they will make you incredibly confused as to what is happening and why it is happening. With 10 large novels in the main series you will have plenty to enjoy!"

This week's focuses on a medium, not a particular item. Here's what our shelver Joan recommends:
"I'm a big fan of print media, and have subscribed to a fair number of newspapers and magazines over the years. But that can get expensive, which makes the library's print newspaper and magazine collection a great option! More than a dozen local, state, and national newspapers and even a larger collection of magazines are on display, with back issues also available. Back issues of magazines can be checked out for catching up at home. What have I read lately in print media, available at the library? Here's a few headlines. "6 Natural Wonders You Won't Find in a National Park" (NYTimes); "Madden is Designed to Feel Real. So Where are the Concussions?" (NYTimes); "Shoreline Access Appeal Brings Clarity Closer" (MkeJournalSentinel); "One Photographer's Quest to Reveal Every Animal on Earth" with incredible photos (National Geographic magazine); and several great recipes in Taste of Home magazine's "Summer 2026" issue. Head to the northeast back corner of the adult library to see this print media collection. Happy Reading!

Just a heads-up--the Library will be closed Friday, October 2nd for a staff training day.

Today's comes from adult librarian Katie. Katie, take it away!

"I recently finished 's Meet Me in the Garden and couldn't put it down. This family saga, a gorgeous blend of literary and historical fiction, begins in 1944 New Orleans and follows the glamorous Honore sisters who are admired in their Creole community, as they each find their own way in life. While her older sisters are perfectly content being wives and mothers, the youngest, Odette, dreams of a different life until she finds herself a widowed mother in Los Angeles. Spanning decades, this book follows the Honore sisters as they experience life, loss, motherhood, and desire set among the Great Migration as a backdrop."

We're diving into the world of digital library resources this week for . Circulation Attendant Tim recommends the library app Hoopla.

"I would like to recommend a wonderful resource called Hoopla. Often times the ebook title I am looking for in Libby is either not available, or it has a lengthy waitlist. On more than one occasion, I have been able to find a particular title through Hoopla, and it is readily available! So, please do not limit your search to just one app. Give Hoopla a chance if Libby doesn't have it!"

Check it out and ask at the Information Desk if you need help downloading Hoopla.
